Let’s forget the boring exercise bicycles found in gyms and imagine instead ourselves riding a bike on a lovely sunny day along a scenic route, perhaps stopping here and there to enjoy a piece of cheese, some olive oil or a glass of wine. Even better if along the way there are sites of cultural interest such as a Romanesque church, a little museum, an archaeological dig. In the environs of Lake Garda there are many interesting places to go to, such as the Bastia San Michele archaeological park in Cavaion or Punta San Vigilio, one of the most celebrated and romantic spots overlooking the lake. Its story is interlaced with that of a palace built for a misanthrope who loved peace, beauty and studies: his motto was “Beatus ille qui procul negotiis” (happy is the man who stays away from business).
