This weekend we will be taking part in two sports events held in Verona. The first is on Saturday: this is the First Butty ECB Trophy, a cycling race organized by the sports association ASD Butty. The starting point is in S. Lucia di Pescantina, the route is roughly 7.5 km long, and the overall mileage is between 52 and 58 km. For further information please contact the organizers by either mail [email protected] or phone +39 340 9281085. On Sunday, May 15, we are among the sponsors and supporters of Straverona, a recreational race that has been held uninterruptedly in our town since 1983. Organized by Associazione Straverona and the Sports Commission of the Municipality of Verona, this race is endorsed by the Unione Marciatori veronesi and the local FIASP (Italian Federation Popular Sports Amateurs) Committee. Throughout the years, many famous athletes have taken part in this race, including Olympic gold medallist Gelindo Borlin, Loris Pimazzoni, Alfonso Calaberta and many others. Popular amateurs include Italian entertainers and singers Gianni Morandi, Fabrizio Frizzi, Giuseppe Grillo, Teo Teocoli, and Simona Ventura. Should they wish, the competitors can decide to race against the clock by enrolling in CronoRun. There are two routes to choose between, a 10-km and a 20-km-long one, and they will have a place reserved for them in the starting grid. Part of the proceeds will go towards solidarity projects included in the 2016 Programme of Solidarity. More info at http://www.straverona.it/straverona/.
