The feast of the new oil

On Sunday, November 10th, a chance to savour our freshly made oil and visit our oil mill, the Castaldo Museum and our splendid olive groves

For us this feast has become a real tradition, an opportunity to celebrate the work of an entire year. And like any celebration worthy of this name, we want to share it with all of you.

It will soon be time for the Feast of the New Oil, when we open the doors of our olive mill to whoever wants to know the secrets of our trade. Every year the place fills with magic, and the delightful scent of freshly-squeezed oil pervades every nook and corner. We are holding this year’s feast on Sunday, November 10th: mark this day on your calendar, and don’t miss the opportunity of spending a lovely autumn day sampling our new oil, savouring typical dishes of the Garda cuisine such as our fragrant Fogassa, a speciality of Cavaion Verones, taking a guided tour of our mill and see the press at work, or strolling across the olive grove surrounding our headquarters. Here you can admire over 400 olive trees of 27 different varieties planted here to study how they fare in an environment different from their native one and verify whether they can withstand the lower temperatures of our region.

During the Feast, our guests will also have the opportunity of visiting the Museum of the Castaldo, devoted to the figure of the Castaldo, or land steward, who used to play a key role in the economy and land management of our region. In these halls you can admire farming equipment that was still widespread in the farms surrounding Lake Garda until a short few decades ago.

This is going to be a real party, and we can’t wait to welcome you and let you savour our new oil, enjoy a stroll in our olive grove and show you the magic of olive oil coming to life.
